Frequently asked questions

What are your qualifications and flight experience?

I have approximately 1,500 total flight hours and hold Commercial Pilot privileges in both single-engine and multi-engine aircraft, along with an Instrument rating and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate.
Additional qualifications include tailwheel, high-performance, complex, and seaplane ratings, allowing me to safely operate and instruct across a wide range of aircraft and mission profiles.

What types of aircraft do you work with?

I work with a broad range of aircraft categories, including:

  • Experimental / E-AB

  • S-LSA and E-LSA

  • Standard category aircraft

  • All Van’s RV models

This includes owner-operated aircraft, flight school fleets, and newly completed or recently modified airplanes.

Do you offer RV-specific training and ferry services?

Yes. In addition to general flight training and ferry services, I provide RV-specific training and operational support tailored to the handling characteristics, performance, and operational considerations unique to Van’s RV aircraft.
This includes transition training, proficiency flying, and ferry support for RV owners and builders.

Where are you based, and how far will you travel?

I am Michigan-based and offer services nationwide. Travel is coordinated based on aircraft location, scope of work, and scheduling considerations.
Both training and ferry services can be provided outside the local area by arrangement.

What should I expect before a training or ferry flight?

Each engagement begins with a discussion of your aircraft, goals, and timeline. Prior to any flight, we review aircraft documentation, operating limitations (when applicable), and mission requirements to ensure the work is approached professionally and conservatively.
Clear communication and planning are emphasized so there are no surprises.

Do you assist with FAA paperwork and operational documentation?

Yes. I provide administrative support related to training and ferry operations, including:

  • Preparation of agent letters

  • Assistance with Special Flight Permit (ferry permit) documentation

  • Review of aircraft records for completeness

  • Coordination with FAA offices or designees when required

  • ATC coordination for non-standard operations, such as transponder issues

This support is intended to help streamline the process and reduce confusion, while ensuring requirements are clearly understood and properly addressed.
